Uccello Italian restaurant Sydney.
At the Ivy Hotel
At Uccello Italian restaurant in Sydney is Sophisticated regional Italian cuisine in a rustic-chic dining room overlooking a rooftop pool in the heart of Sydney.
Uccello Italian restaurant Sydney is another great stayer from the Merivale Group
Italian food is all about produce, flavour and simplicity. It flourishes on what Mother Nature produces, not on what is manufactured inside four walls. With these principles in mind, it’s no stretch to say that Uccello epitomizes Italian food.
Beautiful Friendly Staff, The Ivy on a Friday night is a happening place, and Uccello gives you an opportunity to people watch while enjoying a beautiful meal. Indeed, upon entering the rooftop eatery, we are greeted by both a beautiful, fuzzy haired young Italian hostess as well as the aromas of pizza, whole fish, shrimp, and vegetables roasting in a wood-fired oven set in the open-air kitchen.
Standing out like a shiny Ferrari is a big Berkel slicer on a communal farm table surrounded by the produce of Tuscany.
The Menu is ravishing. My dinner party and I filled our table with antipasto plates, shaved Parma ham, burrata, fresh radish, grissini, and sautéed octopus. We also enjoyed beautiful small pasta, braised meat, and provincial sauce with cured pork cheeks, which were the perfect size to share.
At Uccello Italian restaurant in Sydney we didn’t stop there. Next came the whole-roasted snapper from the wood fired oven, crumbed veal cutlets with fresh spinach, and a very simple lamb ricotta and peas (which were not balanced, but I didn’t mind).
For Desserts ,we nipped at pannacotta with watermelon granita
(which was lovely, but eat fast or you will be drinking it), and semifreddo with a bang of lemon — beautiful.
A large selection of wines is displayed down one side of restaurant. Staff work like a well-oiled machine, backing each other up, and are well-educated in what they are serving — all done with well-warn but warm smiles.
You’ll pay Sydney prices to experience Uccello, about $100-$150 for a three-course meal for two.
Entrées $19-$27, mains $34-$38, desserts $8-$16.
The Ivy Pool Club is one of the showier spots in Sydney, featuring private cabanas, inflatable swans and a host of pretty young things dancing to on point music. Some would say that music and the beats can interrupt a cosy night in one of Sydney hot spots but honestly I think it adds to the ambience and excitement of the restaurant.
Since I dinned at Uccello , they have had a change of Chef and by all accounts is marching on with fine reputation of this Italian stallion. I will be back for another sample thou.
Uccello Italian restaurant Sydney is simple. They don’t try to be something they’re not, and they are exceedingly capable of that. Everything tasted as it should – Italian.
