Gemelli Italian Restaurant – Wood fire Delight.
First of all, Gemelli are spreading there Italian cuisine across the whole the Gold Coast, Nobbys Beach, there new digs at Sorrento and finally BroadBeach, where this review was conducted.
After claiming the Gold Coast Bulletin’s best pizza title, Gemelli was high on my list of “must eat”. A basic establishment in Broadbeach with a cosy atmosphere, and on a Tuesday night, getting a table was easy with no booking required. Weekends I’m sure might be a different story.
The Restaurant is classy and simple, with the wood fire pizza oven and dough twirling chefs a standout in the centre. And with Broadbeach one of those “to be seen” places, tables outside were the pick.
It wouldn’t be right to come for Italian and not start with a bottle of San Pellegrino, ordered straight up. As this visit was a late night eat, I skip over the starters and head straight to the pizza section. I decide on The “Daniele”, buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto, mushroom and fresh basil, the only real choice was the size…. Traditional or a Metre….. A great option for a girl’s night out or pre dinner option before a big night, but traditional is still an ample size. A nice glass of Pewsey Vale Eden Valley Riesling was in order from the simple and well-priced wine list.
Although the place is relatively full, the pizza comes out within 15 minutes. Covered in Fresh Prosciutto and basil, cooked to perfection and a taste to have you wishing you ordered the metre just to take it home for the morning after.
Having been brought up in the hospitality Industry in the last 30 years, I have seen the demise of the professional waiter. Consequently , Gemelli staff did Ok, a little bit more knowledge, passion and love goes a long way. Pressure due to transient staff, labor cost etc , training is hard these days across the hospitality board furthermore that is for another article.
Lets just say Gemelli lived up to my expectation of service staff on the Gold Coast.
Having said that I want you to visit and enjoy this restaurant, which is very deserving of the “Best Pizza” title, the whole package would have delivered a knockout dining experience.
Most noteworthy if you’re looking for a great yummy pizza and nice atmosphere for dinner, this should be a place to visit
